Birth Class in San Diego

Regardless of the type of birth you are hoping for, being prepared is the best thing you can do for yourself, your partner, and your baby. If you don’t know your options, you don’t have any.

Bradley Method®

The Bradley Method® series is a cohesive class that will educate and empower you to make the best decisions for your family during pregnancy, labor, and after the birth of your baby.

The Bradley Method covers:

  1. Exercises and Staying Low Risk
  2. Proper Nutrition and Breastfeeding
  3. The Anatomy and Physiology of Pregnancy
  4. Role of the Coach, Choices in Labor and Delivery
  5. Introduction to First Stage Labor
  6. Introduction to Second Stage Labor
  7. Birth Plans, Variations, and Cesareans
  8. Advanced First Stage Labor, Comfort Measures
  9. Advanced Second Stage Labor, Birth Positions
  10. Your New Family, Breastfeeding Basics, Postpartum Care

Next Class: Due to growing needs, I will be teaching a shorter, general birth class. See below for more info.

5-Week Birth Class

If you are limited on time but still want to be educated, this course is for you. Although this isn’t a Bradley Method class, you will receive all of the same handouts and resources as above.

Class outline and structure:

  1. Nutrition, exercises, and body balancing to stay low-risk
  2. Stages of labor and comfort measures
  3. Choices in pregnancy, labor, and delivery to create an informed birth plan
  4. Unexpected situations, coaching, and labor rehearsal
  5. Postpartum preparation and breastfeeding basics

Class Dates (2024): April 22-May 20 (Full), June 3-July 1, July 15-August 12, and August 19-September 23 (no class on Sept 2).

Classes meet on Monday nights, from 7-9 PM in Kearny Mesa (92111). The total cost of the class is $375. Payment in full is due at the time of registration unless special arrangements are made. The general recommendation is to start classes around 20 weeks.
